I have been dealing with simple organic forms for the length of my artistic career. In the past few years I have been exploring ways to suggest these shapes by slicing them into fragments which, at first, the viewer might perceive as disconnected parts within a well orchestrated whole composition. The interplay of geometric parallel slices of the organic forms combines machine-like geometry with the forms of nature. To make matters a little more complicated, these forms appear as if they are floating in space, obstructing the view of other similar forms lingering behind them. The suggestion of how to read this information is further complicated by the puzzling, ambiguous interplay of these positive and negative shapes. Ultimately, the combination of these forms, notions of light, varied surface textures, and harmonies of color present an overall “image” which I strive to make resonant and powerful.
