Pablo Picasso - Graphik

Pablo Picasso

The exhibition "Pablo Picasso - Graphik" showcases works out of the impressive as well as outstanding graphic oeuvre of Pablo Picasso. On display are lithographies, lino cuts and etchings. It is always a pleasure to discover the manifold ways of expression the artist has used. His motifs do origin from various sources which reach from archaic forms of art or antique mythology. The beholder encounters motifs from fauns making music, nudes, the Spanish bullfighting and classical topics like "painter and model" or "mother with children". This viewing rooms gives a first glance in our exhibtion which is to see in our Cologne based gallery until January 2021.

Pablo Picasso (Málaga 1881–1973 Mougins) has been described as a ‘magician of the art of printmaking’. This term not only encompasses the unbridled creativity that he developed in this field – and in so many others – it also refres to his elementary and always surprising formal language, his technical mastery, his craftsmanship and his boundless joy of experimentation. The vital power of his graphic work makes comparisons with Rembrandt and Goya necessary, two role models who the artist expressly references in his own work.
