Seven Deadly Sins
Ann Chernow, Jane Allinson
Ann Chernow’s NOIR series is inspired by the characters and contexts of classic film noir.
In this new group, she explores a dark visual presentation of the seven deadly sins:
Pride, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, Greed, and Sloth.
The mixed-media prints are accompanied by ribald Noir interpretations of such classic poems as Trees and the Song of Hiawatha, penned by Jane Allinson. For the best interpretation of this room, additional poems can be fund in the download to the right.

Ann Chernow (née Levy; born February 1, 1936) is an American artist who is known for her portrait-style illustrations that evoke the images of female cinematic figures of the 1930s and 1940s. She avoids specificity, choosing instead to portray universal situations through figures who are inspired by film but reinterpreted to transcend stereotypes. Chernow has worked extensively in the mediums of lithography, silkscreen, etching, and colored pencil.
Jane Allinson (née Frank; born July 28, 1943) is an American print collector and dealer who writes about the fine arts.
