Viacrucis

Michel Pérez Pollo

Viacrucis is a collection of etchings in which Michel Pérez Pollo revisits his series of paintings with the same title, painted between 2014 and 2019.
Michel has focused on rethinking and post-producing the general concepts of the tradition of abstract art and faith. He has appropriated the geometric to make it organic and essential. He has played with Malevich, Mondrian, Jean Arp and Josep Albers, as Sol LeWitt, Frank Stella, Donald Judd, Dan Flavin and James Turrell did before him, exploring the value of contemporary art outside their usual “temples”.

The series consists of fifteen hand-printed photogravures, each corresponding to each of the fifteen stations. Each print from the series is made up of an edition of 12 samples and 2 e.a. (éprueve d’artiste). The collection is presented in an African Mahogany Sipo wooden box.
This project has been produced and published by Benveniste Contemporary in Madrid and curated by Luis Sicre.
